In this episode, I had the pleasure of visiting the beautiful city of Lille for a photo shoot with the talented photographer Yannou Shoot. Together, we explored the city, capturing stunning footage at various iconic spots. As I rode through Lille, I was in awe of its charm and vibrant atmosphere.
Our journey began at the Place du Général de Gaulle, a bustling square in the heart of Lille. This historic plaza is adorned with impressive architectural landmarks and is a hub of activity. At its center stands the magnificent Tour de la Colonne de la Déesse (Column of the Goddess). This towering monument pays homage to the city’s resilience and commemorates Lille’s resistance during the Siege of Lille in 1792.
One of the highlights of our photo shoot was the visit to La Vieille Bourse (Old Stock Exchange). This architectural gem is a true masterpiece, blending Flemish and Italian Renaissance styles. Its ornate façade and intricate detailing make it a captivating sight. Inside, the courtyard comes alive with booksellers and antique dealers, creating a vibrant and enchanting atmosphere.
Continuing our journey, I made my way to the Église Saint-Maurice de Lille, a remarkable example of Gothic architecture. The church’s soaring spires and intricate stained glass windows leave a lasting impression. Its rich history and spiritual significance add to the allure of this sacred place.
As I rode through the city, I passed under a bridge near Lille’s train station, capturing the essence of the city’s modern infrastructure blending harmoniously with its historical charm. The juxtaposition of old and new is a testament to Lille’s ability to seamlessly merge tradition and progress.
Lastly, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to showcase the striking building of La Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie des Hauts-de-France (Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hauts-de-France). This architectural marvel stands as a symbol of Lille’s thriving business community and its commitment to economic growth.
Lille is a city that never fails to impress. Its captivating history, stunning architecture, and vibrant atmosphere make it a true gem of Northern France. Although there were many other incredible places I didn’t have the chance to film, I look forward to exploring them in future videos.
